NX-D wasn't bad at all, but the differences that mattered to me are the lens profiles and noise reduction provided in PhotoLab. I used Capture NX-D (the predecessor to NX Studio) for my Nikon 1 cameras before moving to PhotoLab. Is there anyone here who has used both programs? The software tools I need are the cheapest element of my photography by far - a bargain. I upgrade the two raw processors I rely on as a basic investment in my continuing to have the tools I need. And then I think what if the supplier fails and no longer maintains the software.

I look at all of the many thousands of photos I have processed using software that I rely on. Once the supplier has made the software adequately functional and the consumer no longer needs a new version how does the supplier maintain a cash flow and pay the bills? It can become inoperative with OS changes etc., but software presents a twist on the supplier/consumer model. My shoes wear out and I have to buy new ones. I think of it as an unwritten contract of sorts. DXO PL is one of them and so I upgrade every cycle regardless. There are two raw processors that I rely on. I hope there will be some improved tools and performance. What do you expect/want to be in PL - 7 that will be worth upgrading for? I'll be upgrading as soon as it arrives, recommend you get in line. We're all waiting with anticipation for the soon-to-be-released PL-7. You've already found yourself attracted to one of the very best of those top-tier raw processors so it seems like an easy decision moving forward.
